This marks his first fight against a southpaw in approximately 4 years and 5 months, since his world title win in November 2021. Ogawa, who turned 38 in February, is focusing intensely, stating, "It's good when people say I haven't changed. As it's the main event, I'm focused on a boxing style that finishes the fight decisively." He added, "Someone told me it's good to show the 'scary Ogawa,' and last time I was able to heighten my concentration.
