Author Biography

Satoru Naito

Born in 1990 in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. His family runs a local machine shop specializing in woodworking equipment. Played basketball passionately in Yamanashi through high school. After enrolling in the Faculty of Economics at Rikkyo University, he spent his student days exploring tsukemen noodle shops in Ikebukuro. Deeply inspired by the movie 'The Social Network,' he developed a passion for entrepreneurship. During university, he launched a blog titled 'Greetings from Silicon Valley,' which gained attention. After graduation, he moved alone to the U.S., founded a company in 2015, but failed. After years of trial and error, he launched Anyplace (Anyplace) in 2017 — a rental business tailored for remote workers. Secured investments from Jason Calacanis, known as an early investor in Uber, and Steve Chen, co-founder of YouTube, and expanded operations across major U.S. cities. In 2018, selected for 'Forbes JAPAN 30 UNDER 30' (30 Japanese under 30 changing the world). Currently based in San Francisco. This is his first book.
