Hinagiku Inc., headquartered in Nerima-ku, Tokyo, and led by Representative Director Mika Ojima, held an instructor-focused seminar titled 'Solfège Lesson Seminar where both students and teachers can be enthusiastic!' on April 3, 2026, at Yamaha Music Yokohama Minatomirai. This seminar, the first in a planned national series, is based on the content of the book 'Students Change! New Solfège Teaching Textbook.' The program offers an experiential learning approach to teaching methods that cultivate children's sensitivity and comprehension in music. The seminar addresses common challenges faced by children in music lessons, such as difficulty in making music despite reading scores, maintaining rhythm, or singing/memorizing pitches. It organizes these 'stumbling blocks' from three perspectives: music reading, rhythm, and sense of pitch, providing a teaching method to verbalize 'why they stop there' and 'what is lacking.' The approach advocates for integrating solfège seamlessly into daily lessons to foster enjoyable musical performance, rather than treating it as a separate activity. Participants' feedback included comments like 'My perspective on solfège changed, it was a series of inspirations,' and 'There were many things I could immediately apply to my lessons.' The seminar also highlighted the increasing number of children who struggle with reading music despite learning piano, presenting practical methods to address this through experiential solfège. Future seminars are scheduled for April 26, 2026 (Ibaraki), June 12, 2026 (Osaka), and June 19, 2026 (Hiroshima). The book 'Students Change! New Solfège Teaching Textbook' (Yamaha Music Entertainment) was released on January 13, 2026, and was reprinted approximately one month later. Mika Ojima, CEO of Hinagiku Inc. and representative of Daisy Music Academy, developed the 'Uta Hanon®' method and has taught over 20,000 children. Her unique teaching methods, established through experience at Musashino Academia Musicae, have been highly praised by instructors, with over 1,600 participants in her seminars. Hinagiku Inc.'s business activities include music education, instructor training, and material development.
