D2C Inc. has released a report that provides a detailed analysis of the attributes and flow of visitors to the "Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival," held from April 16 to May 5, 2025. This analysis utilizes Docomo data from its membership base of over 100 million people (as of December 2025). The report notes that the economic impact of cherry blossom viewing in Japan reached nearly 300 billion yen in 2025. The Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival, one of Japan's three largest, recorded an estimated 2.31 million visitors in 2025. This report aims to provide a concrete example for municipalities and businesses in the event and tourism sectors on how to leverage precise location data from a telecommunications carrier. Key findings from the analysis of Hirosaki Park, which was ranked number one in a 2025 survey of "cherry blossom spots I want to visit at least once," include: approximately 40% of visitors came from outside Aomori Prefecture, with a significant influx from the Tohoku and Kanto regions; visitor traffic peaked around noon for dining and after sunset for the illuminated "night cherry blossoms"; and a clear picture of the target audience's attributes emerged.
