Seminar Overview
Amidst the growing demand for biodiversity conservation efforts by both companies and local governments towards the realization of Nature Positive (nature restoration), the Ministry of the Environment operates a system to certify private sector biodiversity conservation initiatives as "Nature Co-existence Sites."
Furthermore, to promote the participation of private companies and others, full operation of the "Certification System for Nature Co-existence Sites Support" began in fiscal year 2025, targeting those who provide support for activities at Nature Co-existence Sites.
Companies that obtain the support certification will have their activities contributing to biodiversity conservation officially recognized, and it is expected to be utilized for information disclosure in line with TNFD (Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) and as proof of CSR activities.
On the other hand, for local governments and organizations managing Nature Co-existence Sites, utilizing support from private companies can lead to solutions for their challenges.
Additionally, cases where local governments are utilizing the system in combination with the Corporate Hometown Tax Donation System are emerging, and it is expected to be a new method for balancing the resolution of regional issues with corporate social contribution.
