One summer day, strange mysterious phenomena are witnessed across Japan, causing a stir. Meanwhile, the Nohara family heads to Hiroshi's parents' home in Akita Prefecture for a visit. While preparing for the trip, a suspicious shadow secretly watches from behind the bushes in the garden as Shinnosuke innocently enjoys playing ninja.

The Nohara family, who were looking forward to their long-awaited visit and a fireworks festival, spend a peaceful time at their grandfather Gin-nosuke's house. However, the morning after arriving in Akita, an inexplicable incident occurs! Flyers for "Obake-shon Village" are scattered throughout the room where Shinnosuke and his friends were staying. Enticed by the flyers that read "Eat Chocobi all you want!," the entire Nohara family agrees to go to "Obake-shon Village." As they travel, observing the changing Akita landscape, they find themselves lost in a strange space as they enter a remote mountain area...

This is the entrance to the "Land of Yokai," where humans are forbidden to enter! Will Shinnosuke and his family, facing the biggest pinch in Nohara family history in the "Land of Yokai," be able to return to the human world safely? A wondrous summer adventure begins where the Nohara family meets delightful yokai!!
