He debuted in 2001 with I WILL GET YOUR KISS, for which he wrote the lyrics and music. In addition to his work as a singer-songwriter, he is active as an actor, mainly in musicals. In 2002, he played the title role in the musical Mozart! and received the Yomiuri Theater Award for Outstanding Actor, the Haruko Sugimura Award, and the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival New Artist Award in the theater category. In 2017, he won the Yomiuri Theater Award for Best Actor for Jersey Boys. Recent major credits include DEVIL, CROSS ROAD: The Devil’s Violinist Paganini, Frankenstein, and Something Rotten! He is scheduled to appear in the musical Kuhaku no Hibiki in July 2026 and Secret Stage from September 2026. Yui Kobayashi was born on February 27, 1993, in Hyogo Prefecture. He graduated from the drama department of Osaka Municipal Sakuya Konohana High School and became inspired by musicals after watching The Sound of Music while in school. He joined the Shiki Theatre Company Research Institute in 2013 and made his stage debut that September in A Chorus Line. He went on to play major roles in numerous productions, including Cats as Skimbleshanks, Aladdin as Aladdin, An American in Paris as Henri Baurel, and Beauty and the Beast as the Beast, before leaving the company in 2023. With his strong vocal ability across a wide range, he is expected to continue attracting attention.
