All 6 performances over 3 days! The first-ever live show where virtual singers and Pokémon perform together!
'Pokémon' started as a game software in 1996, and 'Hatsune Miku' began as music software in 2007. The "PokéMiku" project, a collaboration between these two properties that have connected and enriched both the real and virtual worlds, was launched on August 31, 2023.
At the "PokéMiku Live" held over three days at LaLa arena TOKYO-BAY, all 27 original PokéMiku songs born from the project were performed. Before the evening performances, Pikachu and Hatsune Miku made a surprise appearance in the venue lobby, delighting the audience members who were present.
In the sub-arena, a sales corner was set up where visitors could purchase original Pokémon Center merchandise. There was also an exhibition corner featuring a gallery of music and illustrations from the "PokéMiku" project, as well as photo spots. The "PokéMiku Wall," where visitors could freely write illustrations and comments, was filled with fan art of both franchises.
Furthermore, to commemorate the "PokéMiku Live" performances, a campaign was launched at nearby commercial facilities (LaLaport TOKYO-BAY, LaLa terrace TOKYO-BAY). From March 7 (Sat) to March 22 (Sun), photo spots were set up within the facilities, and various locations were decorated with visuals from "PokéMiku Live."
A 120-minute show delivering all 27 "PokéMiku songs" with unique PokéMiku flair!
The live show began with the melody of "Inishie no Uta" (Ancient Song) sung by 〈Meloetta〉, who is also depicted with Hatsune Miku in the main visual. As the opening movie concluded, the sound of an approaching engine could be heard, and Hatsune Miku appeared, riding on 〈Miraidon〉. After dismounting from Miraidon, Miku struck a pose with a Poké Ball, and the venue's voltage instantly skyrocketed.
The first song was "Mirai Donna Darou" by Mitchie M, which begins with a characteristic sampling of the opening BGM from the original Pokémon games ('Pokémon Red and Green'). While the flow consciously started with a nod to the original games, which can be called the origin of Pokémon, the song also includes many elements from later Pokémon series, equally capturing the hearts of the audience, composed of various generations, and inviting them into the world of "PokéMiku."
Following that, three songs were performed in succession: NayutalieN's "Esper Esper," cosMo@Bousou-P's "Sentou! Hatsune Miku," and Kairiki Bear's "Mero Mero-roid." In "Esper Esper," there was a scene where Hatsune Miku floated due to the Psychic-type move Telekinesis by 〈Meloetta〉, creating a singing scene unique to "PokéMiku." During "Mero Mero-roid," a surprise Mega Evolution of 〈Mawile〉, who joined the performance midway, sent the crowd into an even greater roar of excitement.
During the first MC segment, Hatsune Miku and 〈Meloetta〉 greeted everyone in the venue. For the fifth song, Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, and Kagamine Len appeared with adorable 〈Bidoof〉s, sparking a "B, I, P, P, A" chant during Wonderful☆Opportunity!'s "Go! Bidoof-dan." Immediately after, as Giga's "Gacchu!" by the same three singers began, KAITO, who is in charge of the original song's "Pokédex reading" part, made a surprise appearance on stage. In another surprise, 〈Mew〉 suddenly took over the side screens, astonishing the audience.
For the seventh song, the atmosphere shifted from bright to dark, and on the transformed stage, Hatsune Miku performed syudou's "Ore Ghost Type" alongside 〈Gengar〉. For the eighth song, MEIKO joined in to sing and dance to Kuriyama Yuri's "Hyu~dorodoro" with 〈Cubone〉 and 〈Mimikyu〉. The ninth song, Satsuki's "Facade Question," featured guest virtual singer Kasane Teto and Pokémon like 〈Farfetch'd〉 and 〈Sudowoodo〉. Even after the song ended, it left the audience with the unexpected question, "Who was the Ditto?" which created the biggest stir of the live show.
