Our company supports "April Dream," an initiative that encourages people to share their dreams on April 1st. This press release represents the dream of Crossroad Inc.

Crossroad Inc. (Headquarters: Nara Prefecture) dreams of establishing "Computer Clubhouse Nara (tentative name)," a creative space where anyone, regardless of age, can engage with the latest technology and turn their "I want to make this" ideas into reality.

Background: The Lack of a "Creative Hub for Science and IT" in the Cultural City of Nara

Nara Prefecture is home to many wonderful facilities related to history, nature, and art. However, there are not yet enough places where people can freely use cutting-edge computer science and digital fabrication tools to work on long-term projects.

We want to create a place in Nara for creative exploration—a place where you don't just "experience and finish," but where you can spend months or years bringing your ideas to life. With the spirit of "If it doesn't exist, let's build it!" we conceived this project.

What is a Computer Clubhouse?

It is a "third place" for young people that originated in Boston, USA, in 1993.

Its mission is to provide a "creative and safe learning environment." In this space, young people from diverse backgrounds work with mentors to use technology to explore their own ideas and acquire new skills. It is a place where they build the "self-confidence" to believe in their own potential through their activities. That is what a Computer Clubhouse is. Today, this network has spread across the globe.

The "3 Dreams" We Want to Realize

1. Creating opportunities for everyone to be the protagonist of technology

From programming and manufacturing with 3D printers and laser cutters to full-scale video and music production, we aim to create a space where anyone, regardless of age, can freely use expensive equipment and professional environments for free (or at a low cost).

2. Sharing knowledge across generations (Realizing a community)

Young people teach adults the latest digital skills, and adults share their rich experiences with the youth. We will realize a space where such flat, multi-generational interaction occurs. We will share a new "form of learning" from Nara that transcends the relationship of teacher and student.

3. From Nara to the world: Creating collaborative projects

Ideas born in this space will connect with peers around the world and grow into projects that move society. By becoming part of a worldwide network, we will provide opportunities for young people in Nara to make friends globally and broaden their perspectives.

Anticipated Equipment (Dream Equipment List)

* Programming/IT: High-performance PCs, single-board computers

* Digital Manufacturing: 3D printers, laser cutters

* Video Production: 4K cameras, shooting studio, chroma key sets

* Music Production: Mixers, MIDI keyboards, soundproof booths

Message from the Representative

Through my own activities in the global programming community "CoderDojo," I have experienced the joy of making friends overseas and the way it expands one's world. I want many young people in Nara to experience connecting with the world through the common language of technology.

"Computer Clubhouse Nara (tentative name)" is currently still at the "dream" stage without concrete plans. However, we are starting by sharing ideas through casual conversation and gathering like-minded people who are interested. In the historic land of Nara, I want to build a place where young people who will create the future can gather, together with all of you.

About Crossroad Inc.

Based in Nara Prefecture, we promote educational support and community building through technology. We aim to realize a society where everyone can connect with the world and believe in their own creativity.

"April Dream" is a project by PR TIMES that encourages people to share the dreams they actually want to achieve, rather than just telling funny lies on April 1st.
