Crown Package Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Komaki, Aichi; President: Keizo Sako), a manufacturer dedicated to environmentally conscious packaging, will host a recycling experience event on April 25, 2026, at the Wing Arena Kariya during a home game for the professional basketball team "SeaHorses Mikawa." The company will provide "recyclable cardboard food containers" to food trucks at the stadium, allowing spectators to dismantle and sort their containers after eating. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Crown Package has served as the game sponsor, and they have held similar recycling events at each match. Media are invited to cover the event as spectators experience the dismantling and sorting process.
Dismantle containers into sea creature shapes and recycle them into cardboard
The containers are made from a material called "Peri-tto Lami," which consists of ultra-thin cardboard laminated with a film to prevent leaks from food moisture and oil. After eating, the film can be easily peeled off, allowing the cardboard portion to be separated and recycled. To make the process fun, the company is introducing a "play" element for the first time. Inspired by the team name "SeaHorses," the dismantled containers will be likened to sea creatures. Dust boxes featuring illustrations of "crabs" and "clione" (sea angels) will be provided, and fans will place their dismantled containers into the box matching the creature shape. All collected cardboard will be handed over to paper recycling companies to be reused as raw material for new cardboard.
