Cracierge Inc. (Headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shota Nakajima), which operates simulation services and information media for life infrastructure such as electricity, gas, and internet lines, has conducted a survey on 203 men and women across Japan regarding government electricity subsidies.
Since January 2023, the government has implemented electricity subsidies intermittently four times over approximately three years. This survey clarified consumer awareness, understanding, and the status of preparatory actions for when these subsidies end.
[Survey Overview] Period: March 2026 Target: 203 men and women nationwide (who pay electricity bills) Method: Internet research via GMO Ask
[Summary of Results] 1. 68% are aware of the subsidies, but only 14% correctly understood the subsidy amount. 2. 41.8% of those who feel the impact on their electricity bills have taken 'no action'. 3. The biggest barriers to switching providers are 'tedious procedures' and 'not knowing which is suitable'.
As subsidies have been repeated over three years, consumers may have become accustomed to the subsidized state, losing the opportunity to review whether their current plan is optimal. This survey highlights the dual barriers of information and psychology that prevent consumers from taking action.
