We are pleased to announce that "Shopcounter Enterprise," a leasing (※) DX system for commercial facilities provided by COUNTERWORKS Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Naoki Sampei; hereinafter "Counterworks"), has been introduced by Aeon Tohoku Inc. (Headquarters: Akita City, Akita Prefecture; President: Yukinori Nishigaki).
※Leasing: Business of attracting and recruiting tenants by commercial facilities.
Background of Introduction
Aeon Tohoku is a company within the Aeon Group that operates a total of 177 facilities in the six prefectures of Tohoku, including "Aeon," "Aeon Mall," "Aeon Style," "Aeon Supercenter," "MaxValu," and "The Big." As a general retailer, they are promoting store operations rooted in the community while providing products and services related to daily life, primarily food.
Aeon Tohoku positions the utilization of event spaces in stores as an important initiative not only to improve revenue but also to provide new shopping experiences and reasons to visit for local customers. However, under the previous operational system, many processes such as accepting applications from prospective tenants, scheduling, internal approvals, issuing and collecting contracts, managing submitted documents, confirming payments, and following up on event execution were handled individually by staff.
With a large number of facilities subject to these operations, the workload tended to increase due to reliance on the experience and manpower of individual staff members. Therefore, a review of the system was required to achieve future revenue expansion and build a stable operational structure. Furthermore, it was a challenge to consistently grasp the granularity of data referenced by stores and areas, making it difficult to understand the occupancy status, unit prices, and leasing trends across different spaces.
Goals to be Achieved by Introducing Shopcounter Enterprise
In light of this background, Aeon Tohoku aims to expand opportunities to connect with new businesses, with whom it has been difficult to establish contact, by first establishing dedicated recruitment pages through the introduction of "Shopcounter Enterprise." Furthermore, they will centralize everything from event space recruitment to inquiry reception, schedule management, tenant information management, contracts and billing, payment confirmation, and analysis.
Operations will commence with 135 facilities in the initial phase. Significant reductions in related work hours are expected through DX, and the time saved will be allocated to sales activities for new tenants and improving the utilization of event spaces for each facility.
Additionally, by accumulating usage application status, response status, and operational performance for each store and space within the management system, the accuracy of analysis for event-related operations will be enhanced. As each staff member will be able to grasp elements such as the number of spaces, unit prices, and occupancy rates from the same perspective, it will be possible to advance event operations based on data, such as reviewing unit prices in high-demand areas, adding spaces based on occupancy status, and considering improvement measures for each facility.
Furthermore, through the introduction process, Counterworks' dedicated consultants will provide support from initial design to operational adoption and achievement of results, enabling short-term operational improvements and increased profitability.
Comments from the Introducing Company
Takashi Abe, SC Manager, Developer Headquarters, Aeon Tohoku Inc.
We have emphasized the utilization of event spaces as an initiative to create new appeal and vibrancy in our stores. On the other hand, many tasks such as reception, scheduling, contracts, payment confirmation, and analysis relied heavily on manual labor, leading to issues with workload per staff member and variations in information management. By introducing "Shopcounter Enterprise," we will standardize event operations across 135 facilities and improve operational efficiency. Moving forward, we aim to leverage the accumulated data to more accurately improve space utilization for each store, leading to event operations that can provide new encounters and shopping enjoyment to our local customers.
