Pia Rakugo Zanmai Releases 5th Archival Distribution of Kobe Shinkaichi Kirakukan 'Genki Yose'

Pia Corporation has announced the launch of the 5th installment of archival distribution for selected rakugo performances from Kobe Shinkaichi Kirakukan's 'Genki Yose' on its unlimited viewing video streaming service 'Pia Rakugo Zanmai,' starting May 7. The lineup for the 5th archival distribution includes five performances: Katsura Harusame's 'Oyako Chaya,' Katsura Fukumaru's 'Girigiri Communication,' Katsura Kichibo's 'Hyogo-bune,' Katsura Hakuraku's 'Chihayafuru,' and Katsura Kandayu's 'Sutokuin.' Kobe Shinkaichi Kirakukan, opened in July 2018, is the only permanent rakugo theater in Hyogo Prefecture. It hosts rakugo and other performances daily, operating 365 days a year, allowing visitors to enjoy Kamigata rakugo. The 'Genki Yose' project, which started in September 2021, was initiated with the aim of 'cheering people up with laughter through rakugo during a time when non-essential outings and social interactions are restricted due to the spread of the new coronavirus.' It continues as an ongoing series, held primarily on Thursday evenings. Future archival distributions are scheduled to add five performances on the first Thursday of every month until October 2026.
