'ALKOO by NAVITIME' Shade Map and Route Feature Wins Double Awards at Tokyo Heat Contest

Navitime Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Keisuke Onishi) announced that the 'Shade Map' and 'Shade Route' features of its walking app 'ALKOO by NAVITIME' have won double awards—the Grand Prix in the Shade Creation category and the Innovation Award—at the Tokyo Heat Countermeasure Goods Contest hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

From the first round of expert review, 12 products across four categories were selected as candidates. These products were then subjected to public voting by Tokyo residents from May 1 to May 10 to determine the winners.

This marks the second award for the 'Shade Map/Route' feature, following its recognition with the 2023 Good Design Award.

Shade Creation Category Grand Prix
Awarded to the product with the highest overall evaluation and the most votes in its category.
(Shade Creation Category: Items that block direct sunlight and suppress the rise in perceived temperature.)

Innovation Award
Awarded to products with excellent advanced features (received the most votes in the second review as being worthy of the Innovation Award).

■ About the 'Shade Map/Route' Feature

Shade Map
Calculates and displays building shade shapes on a map based on building structure, height, and solar altitude. It reflects the season, time, latitude, and longitude, allowing for real-time display of shade shapes.

Shade Route
Based on shade locations at specific times, it proposes prioritized routes with a higher percentage of shade to the destination. It also displays the 'shade rate,' allowing users to compare it with other routes (e.g., shortest distance).

Future updates will include a feature to compare a total of 11 hourly shade routes between the departure and destination during sunshine hours (7:00 to 17:00), helping users find the most comfortable time for walking.

■ About the Tokyo Heat Countermeasure Goods Contest
The contest is hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promote a lifestyle shift adapted to heat, aiming to realize a society where residents can live safely and comfortably even during severe heat. Expert reviews select candidates, followed by public voting, to determine the Grand Prix, Innovation Award, and Usability Award in each category (Shade Creation, Hydration/Salt Replenishment, Body Cooling/Regulation, and Measurement/Monitoring).
