Navitime Japan Co., Ltd. (President: Keisuke Onishi, HQ: Minato-ku, Tokyo) announced that its truck-specific navigation app, 'Truck Car Navigation by NAVITIME,' will begin offering a 'Driving Record' feature on April 22, 2026. This feature allows drivers to log waiting and work times, which administrators can then monitor via a web-based management interface.
Following the April 2025 amendment of the 'Motor Vehicle Forwarding Business Transport Safety Regulations,' recording of waiting and loading/unloading times became mandatory for all vehicles. Furthermore, the 'Act on Efficiency of Material Distribution (New Logistics Efficiency Act),' effective April 1, 2026, requires specific businesses to create medium-to-long-term plans, take steps to reduce waiting times, and submit regular reports.
This new feature was developed to reduce the burden on drivers while supporting logistics efficiency through objective data. By completing records within the daily-use navigation app along with location and time data, it minimizes manual errors and driver fatigue while ensuring accurate data accumulation. The records can be viewed in real-time through the web version of 'Truck Car Navigation.'
Key features include: 1. In-app Status Recording: Automatic prompts upon arrival at destinations prevent missed logs. The flexible design also allows recording 'Start Waiting' even before reaching the final destination. Drivers can also log details of 'incidental work' after finishing primary tasks. 2. Web Management Dashboard: Administrators and drivers can manage and aggregate accumulated data. Those with an 'Advance Course' contract can batch-review records for partnered drivers, significantly reducing the workload for daily and monthly reporting by referencing multiple days of data simultaneously.
Navitime Japan aims to support the industry's response to legal changes and leverage the collected work data to improve arrival predictions and optimal delivery planning, contributing to sustainable logistics.
