Tokyo Metro and Navitime Japan Launch Japan's First "Seat Availability Visualization" in Full Operation. "Seat Availability Route Search" Now Available.

Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. (President: Akihiko Kosaka, Headquarters: Taito-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as "Tokyo Metro") and Navitime Japan Co., Ltd. (President: Keisuke Onishi, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as "Navitime Japan") will begin full-scale provision of "Seat Availability Route Search" and "Seat Availability Car Guidance," which maximize travel comfort by utilizing "Seating Probability" (i.e., ease of seating) estimated from vehicle data, etc., for paid members of the "Nyorin NAVITIME" app starting March 30, 2026 (Monday). ※"Seating Probability" indicates the possibility of being able to sit and does not guarantee that you will be able to sit. ※Please refrain from "walking while using your smartphone." Your cooperation in improving manners is appreciated.

Tokyo Metro and Navitime Japan have been conducting trial services of "Seat Availability Car Guidance" for approximately one and a half years, verifying the accuracy of "Seating Probability"※1. Approximately 3,800 responses were received from user experience surveys and improvement request questionnaires collected during this trial period. Based on this data, by revising "Seating Probability," it has become possible to predict "where and for how long one can sit" with high accuracy. Furthermore, as a new UI, we will display the percentage and duration of seating availability as a bar graph, and incorporate features that propose longer seating routes, such as "You can sit more easily by waiting for the next train" or "Switching from an express train to a local train makes it easier to sit." This will mark the full-scale launch of "Seat Availability Route Search." We are also developing new technologies to expand this service to routes other than Tokyo Metro lines in the future. Tokyo Metro and Navitime Japan will continue to promote initiatives aimed at providing services that lead to comfortable travel for our customers.

(1) Display of Estimated Seating Time A bar graph will be displayed on the route search results list screen, showing the expected duration of seating availability for the entire travel section.
