In 2025, the Nikkei Stock Average surpassed the 50,000 mark for the first time, setting a new record high. Various changes also occurred in the insurance industry.

In life insurance, new product releases and revisions to scheduled interest rates by various companies, driven by rising stock prices and interest rates, led to strong performance for "accumulation-type insurance (such as whole life insurance)" and "single-premium insurance." This is believed to have broadened the recognition of "protecting and growing assets" as one way to utilize insurance.

Regarding the burden of medical expenses, a review of the high-cost medical expense system is planned for 2026 and beyond. With self-payment amounts set according to income, each household's medical expense burden is expected to increase, further strengthening the awareness of supplementing insufficient public coverage with private medical insurance.

In fire insurance, premiums continue to rise across companies, following last year's trend, due to increasing disaster risks. With the detailed segmentation of flood risk by region, there has been a shift in how insurance is chosen, such as considering the inclusion of flood coverage based on hazard maps, indicating that we are entering an era where individuals choose coverage that suits them.

Furthermore, demand for overseas travel insurance has continued to increase, following last year when the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic subsided. We expect the number of applications to continue to grow in the future.
