Sharp Launches SIM-Free Smartphone 'AQUOS R11' for Open Market

Sharp Corporation will begin rolling out its high-end open-market SIM-free smartphone, the 'AQUOS R11' <SH-M35> (12GB RAM / 512GB ROM model), starting July 9, 2025 (※1). The new model introduces advanced features including AI-based automatic zoom adjustment according to subjects, and a new ambient function that creates a comfortable atmosphere using light and sound. These enhancements improve usability during photography and expand the ways users can enjoy their smartphones in daily life.

The camera system has been supervised by Leica Camera AG (headquartered in Wetzlar, Germany). It features a high-resolution triple camera setup: 50.3MP standard, 50.3MP wide-angle, and 38.5MP telephoto lenses, capable of handling diverse shooting scenarios—from everyday snapshots to expansive landscapes and distant subjects. AI-powered camera functions have also evolved. The newly introduced 'Smart Fit Zoom' allows users to simply tap a dedicated icon, enabling the AI to automatically adjust the zoom magnification based on the subject, capturing well-balanced compositions effortlessly. Additionally, the 'Privacy Safe' feature (※2) automatically detects text on signs and billboards during shooting and applies masking (※3), supporting privacy protection when posting photos on social media. Combining ease of use with natural, subject-appropriate results, the AQUOS R11 delivers a photography experience that embodies the concept of 'simple, yet astonishing.'

The new 'Akarium' feature uses a light located at the center of the camera ring on the back of the device to gently notify users of incoming calls or messages. The light offers eight colors inspired by natural hues. Furthermore, it synchronizes with healing sounds recorded from nature and lighting effects themed around campfires or flowing streams, creating a relaxing atmosphere ideal for bedtime or breaks (※2).

The display features a high-brightness Pro IGZO OLED panel with a peak brightness of 3,600 nits. The 'Smart Outdoor View' function automatically brightens shadow areas according to ambient light, ensuring clear visibility of dark image details even under strong sunlight or in dim outdoor environments. Powered by the 'Snapdragon(R) 8s Gen 4 Mobile Platform,' the device delivers high processing performance and smooth operation. Combined with a large 5,100mAh battery and newly designed heat-dissipating materials, it enables stable, long-lasting enjoyment of video streaming and gaming.
