Coincheck Starts Partnership with Mercoin: Crypto Trading on Mercari via Coincheck Now Possible

Coincheck Inc. (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Satoshi Hasuo; hereinafter "the Company"), which operates "Coincheck," a crypto asset trading service ranked No.1 in Japan by active users and app downloads (*), has announced the start of a partnership with Mercoin Inc. (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Keita Nakamura; hereinafter "Mercoin"), a subsidiary of Mercari Inc. that plans and develops services related to crypto assets and blockchain.

From today, through the crypto asset trading screen on "Mercari," users can open new Coincheck accounts and trade crypto assets with the Company via Mercoin's intermediation (*1, *2).

*1 Customers will be able to conduct crypto asset transactions with the Company through Mercoin's intermediation.

*2 From today, Mercari users can gradually apply for the service. To use the service, users must complete the opening of a Mercoin crypto asset trading account and, through the Mercari app, complete the opening of a "linked account" with the Company (those who already have a Coincheck trading account cannot apply for a linked account. Also, there is a screening process. Persons under 18, over 75, or not residing in Japan cannot use the service).

Additionally, the Company has also started offering "Coincheck CaaS," which enables the integration of crypto asset buying and selling functions into apps and services via API. Coincheck CaaS is an embedded financial service for crypto assets, with the service name derived from "Crypto as a Service."

Overview of the Partnership

As announced in the press release dated August 5, 2025, titled "Coincheck and Mercoin Sign Business Alliance Agreement," the Company and Mercoin had already signed a business alliance agreement for collaboration aimed at expanding the domestic crypto asset market and had begun specific cooperation.

With the start of this partnership, Mercari app users can now trade a variety of crypto assets handled by Coincheck—in addition to the previous three (Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP)—easily and securely through the familiar Mercari app.

Service Overview

Through the Mercari app, users can open new Coincheck accounts and trade a total of 12 crypto asset types handled by the Company (*3). As before, users can trade crypto assets easily and securely from the Mercari app.

The Company and Mercoin will continue to deepen collaboration to provide more convenient services to customers, starting with this service and then adding more assets and expanding offerings.

Crypto as a Service (CaaS) is a type of embedded finance that allows other companies to integrate functions such as crypto asset account opening and trading into their services via API.
