Timee, Inc., a gig work service provider based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, led by Representative Director Ryo Ogawa, conducted a survey on long-term employment and hiring through its platform. The survey included 408 Timee workers and 163 businesses utilizing Timee. Key findings for workers showed that 48.0% received long-term employment offers, and 15.4% experienced long-term employment. Of those, 73.0% transitioned to industries they had no prior experience in, demonstrating gig work's role in reducing barriers to entry and facilitating labor mobility. The primary reason for long-term commitment (50.8%) was finding interest and reward in the work. Benefits cited included prior understanding of job content (66.7%) and workplace compatibility (66.7%). For businesses, 98.2% expressed interest in long-term hiring via Timee, with nearly 80% having made offers. Over 60% of these offers resulted in successful long-term hires, including transitions to regular employment. Businesses reported lower turnover rates (56.5%) and reduced financial/operational burdens (over 60%) when hiring long-term through Timee. A significant 98.8% of businesses plan to continue using Timee for future long-term recruitment. As of February 2026, approximately 700,000 Timee registered workers expressed a desire for long-term part-time employment.
