Kuradashi Inc. resolved at its board meeting held on May 29, 2026, to acquire all issued shares of Chukyo Electric Power, an electricity retailer based in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. The share transfer agreement was signed today, and the transfer is scheduled to be executed on June 9, 2026. While Kuradashi has primarily focused on food loss reduction, it launched the renewable energy business 'Kuradashi Energy' in January 2025. Chukyo Electric Power is an electricity retailer that has built a solid customer base in both high-voltage and low-voltage markets in Aichi and Nagoya. Through this acquisition, Kuradashi will gain a foundation in the electricity retail business and integrate its know-how in grid-scale battery storage with retail functions, aiming to build an optimal control infrastructure to eliminate energy waste. Furthermore, by proposing Chukyo Electric Power's electricity to Kuradashi's approximately 2,200 partner companies, the company will create synergies to support corporate SDGs management from both 'food and energy' perspectives.
