Infomart Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Makoto Kimura; hereinafter referred to as "our company"), which streamlines all business operations through the power of digital technology, today launched a special website to visualize foodstuff distribution trends, aiming to support DX and data-driven management in the food industry. Actual transaction data accumulated in "BtoB Platform Order/Order Placement" has been processed and aggregated to an index, ensuring that individual companies, transactions, and individuals cannot be identified. This website can be accessed regardless of whether you use our company's services.

Background and Objectives of This Initiative
Since our founding in 1998, we have supported the operational efficiency of wholesalers and restaurants nationwide through people and systems. In recent years, the environment surrounding the food industry has been drastically changing, with soaring raw material prices, severe labor shortages, and diversifying consumer needs. More than ever, management decisions based on reliable data, rather than relying solely on experience and intuition, are required.
The actual transaction data of foodstuff distribution, exceeding 2.9 trillion yen annually, accumulated from daily transaction information, accounts for 34.6% of the total distribution value of the entire industry (our company's estimate) and reflects the reality of foodstuff distribution in inter-company transactions. By returning this valuable data to the industry, we aim to support the formulation of optimal procurement, sales, and development strategies by food manufacturers, wholesalers, and restaurants, thereby contributing to the revitalization of the entire food industry.
Overview of Distribution Data to be Released
As a first step, indices will be published from the following five perspectives. All data has undergone statistical processing and indexing, and has been processed so that individual transactions cannot be identified. Furthermore, it is available for viewing only on the special website, not in an open data (downloadable) format.
1. Beverages: Distribution Value Trends - "Regular Coffee" Only Shows a Slight Decrease Year-on-Year
The distribution value of "Beverages" actually purchased by restaurants on "BtoB Platform Order/Order Placement" has been indexed. Using "Beer," which has the largest distribution value, as the benchmark (100), the distribution volume and year-on-year changes for each beverage in February 2026 were visualized.
2. Beverages: Distribution Value x Area - "Lactic Acid Bacteria Beverage" Ranks Only in the Kyushu/Okinawa Area
The distribution value data for "Beverages" above is divided by major areas nationwide. This allows for an understanding of regional demand disparities and local trend characteristics.
3. Imported Rice Distribution Trends - Transaction Frequency per Company Doubles After March 2025 Release of Stockpile Rice
Trends in "Imported Rice," which are attracting attention due to recent changes in the rice supply-demand balance, have been extracted. Indexed with January 2025 as the benchmark, the real movement of alternative demand in restaurants is captured through the trends in "Number of Transacting Companies (Sellers)" and "Number of Transactions."
4. Broccoli Distribution Trends - Attention on Future Transaction Value Following Addition to Designated Vegetables
Changes in demand for "Broccoli," which is drawing attention due to its addition to designated vegetables, are analyzed. The classification of regular fresh vegetables and frozen vegetables is combined, and the "Trend of Transaction Value per Company" has been indexed with January 2025 as the benchmark.
5. Seasoning Distribution Trends - While No Major Differences, Vinegar Shows a Decreasing Trend
Trends in "Seasonings," which are directly linked to the diversification of restaurant menus and efficiency of preparation, are analyzed. Indices based on January 2025 and the trend of transaction value per company will be released.
Future Outlook
Our company plans to continue updating this report and releasing new categories. By August 2026, the data will be updated to include data up to June 2026. We will continue to provide "valuable insights" by understanding market needs and support the sustainable development of the entire industry.
Comment from Makoto Kimura, President and Representative Director
We have observed inter-company transactions in Japan for a quarter of a century. Amidst significant changes in the market environment, I feel that information that allows for an objective grasp of the trends of the entire industry is becoming increasingly important. Returning this information to society is one of our social responsibilities. We hope that the data released this time will be of assistance in your daily decision-making and lead to new discoveries. We will continue to carefully disseminate information that is useful to everyone in the industry.
