Launch of the Compact Drum-Type Washer-Dryer 'Big Drum'

Hitachi Global Life Solutions, Inc. (hereinafter 'Hitachi GLS') will release the compact drum-type washer-dryer 'Big Drum' models BD-CX100P and CG80P, designed to be easily installed in living environments with limited space, starting in mid-June. To accommodate living environments with restricted installation space for washing machines, we have newly developed a compact-sized drum-type washer-dryer with consideration for installability. While equipped with the signature large-diameter drum of the 'Big Drum', inheriting features we have cultivated such as washing power, the finish of clothes after drying with 'Kaze Iron', and ease of maintenance like 'Raku Mente', it is designed with a thinner body depth (*1). Since its launch in 2006, the 'Big Drum' has consistently focused over its 20-year history on washing power that moves clothes dynamically with its large-diameter drum, as well as the high-quality finish of dried clothes. Additionally, we have evolved its ease of use to reduce the burden of daily maintenance, represented by the 'Raku Mente' dryer filter-less structure. However, there has been an increase in living environments with restricted washing machine installation spaces, and there have been cases where consumers forewent purchasing conventional drum-type washer-dryers due to size constraints. Given this background, this product provides a washing experience that combines the signature clothing finish and easy maintenance of the 'Big Drum', even in living environments with restricted installation space. Toward the realization of 'Inspire 2027', Hitachi GLS is advancing the provision of environmentally conscious products and services, aiming to improve people's well-being and QoL. The 'Big Drum' released this time was also developed as part of these efforts, aiming to create value that stays close to daily life by providing a comfortable washing experience even in limited living environments. Main Features of the New Product 1. A compact-sized drum-type washer-dryer equipped with signature 'Big Drum' features like 'Raku Mente' and 'Kaze Iron' New To accommodate living environments with restricted washing machine installation spaces, we have newly developed a compact drum-type washer-dryer with a thinner body depth. While equipped with the same 535mm large-diameter drum as the conventional 13kg washing capacity model (*2), the body depth has been reduced by 75mm for the BD-CX100P (10kg washing capacity / 5.5kg drying capacity) and by 125mm for the CG80P (8kg washing capacity / 4.5kg drying capacity), making it an easy-to-install size. Furthermore, despite its compact size, it is equipped with the popular signature features of previous 'Big Drum' models (*3). 'Raku Mente' features a dryer filter-less structure that washes away dust and lint generated during drying during the next washing operation using three automatic cleaning functions, consolidating it into a large-capacity lint filter, reducing the hassle of maintenance. Additionally, 'Kaze Iron', which smooths out wrinkles with high-speed air for a clean finish, achieves reduced wrinkles on clothing. 2. 'High-Concentration Washing' that quickly penetrates clothes and washes thoroughly, and 'AI Washing' that smartly supports washing New Detergent added from outside the washing tub and a small amount of water are mixed to create a high-concentration detergent liquid by rotating the drum so the whole solution reaches the same concentration. This high-concentration detergent liquid quickly penetrates deep into the fibers of the clothes, bringing hidden dirt to the surface. Furthermore, sensors determine the movement of the clothes, and by adjusting the drum's rotation speed to enhance the beat-washing effect, it thoroughly removes sebum and mud stains. Additionally, 'AI Washing' (*4), which uses multiple sensors to detect detergent type, fabric type, and amount of dirt, smartly supports daily laundry by automatically extending washing time when there is a lot of dirt. 3. An easy-to-install compact size that adapts to various living environments New We have prepared two types that can be selected according to the living environment and installation conditions: the BD-CX100P with a 10kg washing capacity and a body depth of 645mm, and the CG80P with an 8kg washing capacity and a body depth of 595mm. With a compact design that also thins the depth when the door is open (*5), it is easy to secure frontal working space after installation, making it a size that is easy to install even in limited spaces. In addition, the door opening direction can be selected from left or right, and it supports straight down drainage (*6), ensuring it can be installed in various living environments.
