"freee-mcp" Now Supports "freee IT Management" for Controlling SaaS Accounts and Devices

freee Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Daisuke Sasaki; hereinafter "freee") announces that the MCP server "freee-mcp", which allows AI agents to directly operate various freee APIs, now supports "freee IT Management"—including OSS and remote versions—for controlling SaaS accounts and devices. With this update, information system (hereinafter "IT") administrators can seamlessly execute account arrangements for employee onboarding, transfers, or departures, detect company-wide shadow IT and shadow AI, and perform IT asset inventory, all through text instructions to AI via chat without navigating multiple management screens.

The Proliferation of SaaS and Generative AI Has Increased IT Workload and Costs

In recent years, while the use of SaaS products and generative AI in business has surged, the workload on IT departments has increased to an unprecedented level. According to a freee survey (*1), over 40% of corporate IT administrators work in teams of one or fewer, highlighting chronic resource shortages.

In companies lacking dedicated IT staff, manual operations across different management screens for each tool and spreadsheet-based manual management have become the norm. As a result, security risks due to failure to delete accounts of departed or transferred employees, and cost increases from unused surplus licenses, have become serious issues.

More recently, the rapid spread of generative AI tools has created a new challenge: rising AI costs. Now, in the seventh area—SaaS account management—"freee IT Management" has been added to this standard, including OSS and remote versions. With this addition, the number of public APIs provided by freee has reached 382, making it possible to consolidate complex IT control interfaces into AI.

1. Full Chat-Based Account Management (Provisioning)

Simply instructing AI via chat, such as "Create a set of SaaS accounts for Mr./Ms. XX from the sales department joining next month" or "Remove old permissions and grant new permissions for Mr./Ms. YY transferring to the accounting department," automatically executes account issuance and changes with appropriate permissions via IdP (*4) and other systems. Immediate access suspension upon departure is also completed with a single command, reliably preventing security incidents due to deletion oversights.

2. Automated Auditing and Remediation of Shadow IT and Shadow AI

Leverage "freee IT Management"'s detection capabilities for over 15,000 AI tools and SaaS services via AI. By simply saying "List users who used unapproved generative AI tools last month," you can instantly grasp the company-wide audit status. Additional instructions to AI can seamlessly complete everything from generating remediation reports to suspending account usage.

3. IT Asset and License Inventory and Cost Optimization

In response to queries like "How many PCs are in stock for employee allocation?" or "Identify SaaS licenses that have not been used for 30 days or more," AI instantly aggregates the status of IT assets scattered across the company. This eliminates the manual effort of data reconciliation and reduces wasteful operational and surplus costs.
