The May issue of VOGUE JAPAN, the Japanese edition of the world's most influential fashion magazine, will be released on Wednesday, April 1.

This issue, titled 'The Era of Obsession,' explores the diverse ways people pour their passion into, love, and immerse themselves in things—from 'oshi-katsu' (supporting one's favorite idol/character) and otaku culture to collecting prized possessions. The cover features Anok Yai, winner of the Model of the Year at the 2025 Fashion Awards. She appears alongside 'Ludens,' the symbol character created by world-renowned game creator and head of Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima, and art director Yoji Shinkawa. In the cover story, she tours various 'obsession' locations across Tokyo, collaborating with CUTIE STREET and Hideo Kojima.

Focusing on the act of 'collecting,' a common thread in obsession, the features 'Artist-led! Enchanting Merch' and 'My Obsession Story Grows as I Collect' delve into the deep appeal of official artist merchandise and the aesthetics and life philosophies of renowned domestic and international collectors.

The issue also highlights creators and performers who pour overwhelming passion into their unique worlds. In 'A Dialogue Between Creators Generating Global Enthusiasm,' Hideo Kojima and actress Shioli Kutsuna, who plays Rainy in his latest work 'DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH,' share behind-the-scenes stories. Additionally, the issue explores 'obsession' through diverse approaches, including artist duo A.A.Murakami, Ei Arakawa-Nash (selected as the representative artist for the Japan Pavilion at the 2026 Venice Biennale), artist Mari Katayama, who has lived with a prosthetic leg since age nine, and the ARCHAX, a giant rideable robot that looks like a real-life Gundam.

Furthermore, the shoot at the Kojima Productions archive room—a dream for game fans—is a first for Hideo Kojima himself, as he strikes a fighting pose alongside Anok. She also collaborates with the eight-member idol group CUTIE STREET, who are spreading 'kawaii' culture from Harajuku to the world; artist and dancer KYOKA, who enjoys immense popularity overseas; and the world's first family-type robot, 'LOVOT.'
