Abeyoando Pharmaceutical Challenges the World: Submits Clinical Data Validating 10-Year Rejuvenation Technology to XPRIZE Healthspan, Aiming for Finalist Selection

Abeyoando Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Representative Director: Tomotaka Abe) was selected as a semi-finalist (top 40 in the world) in May 2025 for the 'XPRIZE Healthspan', a global scientific competition with a total prize pool of 15 billion yen. Continuing its research, the company has now submitted clinical trial data for the finalist selection. What is XPRIZE Healthspan? XPRIZE Healthspan is the world's largest scientific competition aimed at extending human healthspan. A total of over 15 billion yen will be awarded to the team that rejuvenates muscle, cognitive, and immune function by at least 10 years. Over 600 teams from 58 countries participated, making it the forefront of longevity science. Abeyoando Pharmaceutical's Challenge As a domestic pioneer of NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide)*¹, the company has continued R&D in the longevity field. For this finalist selection, it conducted a clinical trial aligned with the competition's evaluation criteria. Healthy men and women aged 47-65 were divided into an intervention group consuming an effective ingredient and a control group consuming a placebo. They ingested a drink containing NMN and Kampo ingredients for 42 days. Trial Results The evaluation items were three areas: muscle, cognitive, and immune function. The results are as follows: - Confirmed improvement in physical activity, memory, and processing speed. - Decrease in the aging-related inflammatory marker IL-6, and increase in the aging-decreasing marker IL-10. - Functional age analysis referencing large-scale aging data*², including the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging, showed the intervention group was approximately 2.8 years younger (Figure 1). - Biological age based on DNA methylation*³ showed an average reversal of about 4 years (with a maximum improvement of 13 years) (Figure 2). Future Plans The company will accelerate joint research with overseas research institutions towards larger-scale clinical trials. The official results of XPRIZE Healthspan are scheduled to be announced on August 11, 2026.
