■ About The 26th Thai Festival Tokyo

Thai Festival Tokyo was first held in 2000 as the 'Thai Food Festival' in Yoyogi Park, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, with the cooperation of the Royal Thai Embassy and related Thai organizations in Tokyo, with the aim of promoting Thai cuisine in Japan.

The Embassy has continued to hold the event annually, and as the popularity of Thailand in Japan grew, the event gradually expanded. In 2005, for its 6th edition, the event name was changed to 'Thai Festival' to promote various attractions beyond Thai cuisine. It has since promoted Thai culture by publicizing Thai fruits and products, and featuring music, sports, and dance performances by Japanese and Thai artists on stage.

Currently, with approximately 250,000 visitors, it is said to be one of the most popular international events held in Tokyo. It is also the largest Thai Festival held worldwide and has become a model for other countries hosting similar events. Within Japan, the success of the Thai Festival in Tokyo has influenced other prefectures, with Thai Festivals now held in Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sendai, Saga, and Chiba. Since 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy and private companies have established an executive committee to jointly organize the event.

■ About SIRI / TOMATO TWINS

'SIRI' was born in Thailand on February 9, 1983. She obtained a bachelor's degree in medical technology but shifted to art in 2013 due to her passion, starting her activities as an illustrator and author on the Facebook page 'siri.drawing.' The character 'TOMATO TWINS' originated from 'SIRI's' notebook when she was pregnant with twins, with her experiences of childbirth and childcare serving as inspiration. When the twins were five months old, their cheeks turned bright red like tomatoes as their gums hurt from teething. Seeing this, 'SIRI' playfully sketched them in her notebook.
