FRANCK MULLER has astonished people with its extraordinary ideas throughout the long history of Swiss mechanical watches, creating timepieces imbued with philosophical thoughts that connect people and time. On the other hand, SUBRINA is a brand born from an unconventional idea of aging wine in an underwater cellar, breaking away from tradition.

The series unfolds as the pursuit of originality by both parties resonates. Vintage 2022 is the second chapter in this series.

A Taste Where Time and Sea Converge

SUBRINA ages Shiraz wine, created with a boutique winery in Stellenbosch, South Africa, in an underwater cellar near Hirizo Beach off Nakagi, Minamiizu, known for Japan's clearest waters.

Vintage 2022 is a vintage characterized by the robustness unique to Stellenbosch, blessed with a warm and stable climate, and a well-balanced structure. By aging this red wine for about half a year at a depth of approximately 15m underwater, it acquires new expressions in its taste under an environment different from that on land.

An elegant aroma spreads the moment it is opened. A smooth, mellow mouthfeel with fresh fruitiness, layered with complex notes reminiscent of ripe black cherry, roasted plum, as well as cacao, licorice, and forest floor. It is a wine that leaves a lasting impression with its coexistence of transparency and concentration.

This limited edition package features FRANCK MULLER's iconic Byzantine numerals and a blue base reminiscent of the beautiful ocean colors.

About SUBRINA

In 2011, SUBRINA challenged the new possibility of underwater-aged wine and established an underwater cellar in Minamiizu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The unique environment of this region, with its rough seas and low water temperatures, imparts a distinct character to the wine, adding depth and mellowness to its taste.

After repeated trials to find the optimal wine for underwater aging, SUBRINA created a Shiraz red wine in collaboration with carefully selected boutique wineries in South Africa.
