Yuji Nomi's Original Soundtrack for the Serial TV Novel "Kaze, Kaoru" to be Released on June 3!

The original soundtrack for the 2026 NHK serial TV novel "Kaze, Kaoru" will be released on Wednesday, June 3rd.
The music is composed by Yuji Nomi, who has worked on numerous productions including the film "Whisper of the Heart" and NHK Special "The Great Journey to Antarctica." In addition to "The Scent of the Wind - 'Kaze, Kaoru' Main Theme -", which has been available for streaming since the first broadcast, the album features 32 warm and rich musical pieces that illuminate the paths of the two protagonists amidst the civilization and enlightenment of the Meiji era.
The serial TV novel "Kaze, Kaoru" is a fictionalized drama reimagining the lives of Ozeki Kazu and Suzuki Masa, who were among the first in Japan to learn modern nursing in the Meiji era.
The protagonists are Rin Ichinose (played by Ai Mikami), born into a former chief retainer's family in the Nasu region of Tochigi Prefecture, and Naomi Oie (played by Juri Uesaka), who was abandoned by her parents shortly after birth and raised by a Christian pastor. The drama depicts the two, after graduating from the same nursing school, struggling and clashing in the medical field while eventually becoming partners.

Yuji Nomi (born 1958, Tokyo)
In 1986, music he created for art performance activities was recognized by Ryuichi Sakamoto, leading to the release of his album "Oshare TV," supervised by Sakamoto.
Subsequently, he participated in the arrangements for film scores "The Adventures of Chatran" and "The Last Emperor," both produced by Sakamoto. In 1995, he composed the music for Studio Ghibli's animated film "Whisper of the Heart."
His other works for Studio Ghibli include the short films "Kujiratori" and "Koro's Big Day Out," and the feature film "The Cat Returns."
In recent years, he has composed music for the TV anime "Nichijou" and the film "Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window." For NHK, he has been involved in music for "The Universe: A Great Journey into the Unknown" and "The Great Journey to Antarctica."
