360Channel, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Keiji Komatsu), a group company of COLOPL, Inc. (President and CEO: Takashi Miyamoto, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter 'COLOPL'), has cooperated in the production of a 'Digital Archive' promoted by the Cabinet Secretariat's Headquarters for the Promotion of the International Exhibition. This archive preserves the experience of the 2025 World Expo in Japan (Osaka-Kansai Expo) for future generations.
Currently available on the official website of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, the special site 'Anywhere, Anytime: Osaka-Kansai Expo 360° View' utilizes the high-definition VR technology cultivated by 360Channel. It is provided as a 'Realistic Digital Archive' allowing people to transcend time and space to experience the enthusiasm and architectural beauty of the Expo site, which will be dismantled after the event concludes.

Background of the Digital Archive Production
The Osaka-Kansai Expo was held under the theme of 'Designing Future Society for Our Lives.' Since most of the site and pavilions will be dismantled after the six-month exhibition period, it will be impossible to physically experience the overwhelming scale, visitor flow, and space itself ever again.
Therefore, to leave the achievements of the Expo—where people crossed borders to interact and build empathy—as an official record, a project was launched under the Cabinet Secretariat's Headquarters for the Promotion of the International Exhibition to create a 'space archive filmed in real life' utilizing VR technology.
Leveraging its track record of converting numerous large-scale events and tourism resources into XR, 360Channel aimed to provide a simulated Expo experience for those who could not attend, and a place to look back on memories for those who did.
360Channel's Role in this Project
- Comprehensive recording of 107 locations including all pavilions, and a total of 938 spots
Using state-of-the-art filming equipment, we completely spatially archived almost the entire Expo site.
- Inside the venue (Exterior): Filmed 938 spots with ultra-high-definition 12K resolution live-action images.
- Each Pavilion (Interior): Filmed 107 locations, including all pavilions, with 8K resolution live-action videos.
- Recreation of the operational state: Instead of just filming empty spaces, with the cooperation of each pavilion, we filmed while faithfully recreating the appearance during normal operating hours, including lighting, exhibit operations, and overall management conditions.
- Realizing an immersive UI and navigability
We constructed a virtual tour where users can freely walk around the venue with intuitive controls.
- Interactive movement: By clicking icons on the floor, users can freely navigate the venue.
- 360-degree video integration: Clicking icons placed at pavilion entrances allows users to watch 360-degree videos for a deeper experience of the exhibits.
- Multi-device support: Optimized for various devices including PCs, smartphones, and VR goggles.

Comment from Keiji Komatsu, President and CEO of 360Channel
For the 10 years since our founding, 360Channel has built up one of the largest domestic production portfolios in the field of 360-degree video and VR technology. We consider realizing this unprecedented scale of spatial archiving—covering the entire venue and 107 locations including all pavilions—to be one of our crowning achievements.
Preserving a space that can never be experienced again physically into a form that anyone can experience anytime through the power of technology—I feel this embodies our mission: 'bringing new technology closer to people and surprising them.'
We are proud to have preserved the once-in-a-lifetime space of the Osaka-Kansai Expo through technology. Moving forward, we will further promote our digital archive business to pass down 'irreplaceable spaces' such as cultural properties, historic buildings, and events to future generations.
