Code for Everyone (NPO), based in Yokohama, Kanagawa, led by Representative Director Akiko Suginohara, will hold a symposium titled 'Thinking About Future Learning Through the Use of Generative AI' on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in cooperation with Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd.

Background and Purpose:
With the rapid spread of generative AI, its use in educational settings, including classroom instruction and school administration, is expanding. Discussions on revising the Course of Study by the Central Council for Education under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) emphasize the need to foster the ability to master AI in school education. While discussions are underway on how to teach 'learning about AI' and 'learning using AI' in elementary, junior high, and high schools, various risks and challenges have also been pointed out.

In this context, schools often express anxiety about how to face these risks and how to effectively incorporate AI into lessons. This event brings together teachers, educational administrators, ICT support staff, academics, and corporate representatives to discuss the future of learning in the generative AI era by sharing diverse perspectives and case studies. We aim to encourage participants to take the first step in 'trying out' generative AI and to create new connections among stakeholders. Childcare services will be available for those who request them.
