Kaohsiung Net Zero Academy Wins UK Green World Award, Launches New Courses

CNA (Kaohsiung, May 26) Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai announced today that the Kaohsiung Net Zero Academy has won a silver award in the 'Climate Change and Sustainable Development' category at the UK Green World Awards, making it the only organization from Taiwan to receive this honor this year. The academy has also announced its curriculum for the second half of the year. The Kaohsiung Environmental Protection Bureau stated that the academy has now won three major awards, including the 2024 National Sustainable Development Award and the CommonWealth Magazine City Governance Excellence Award. New courses for the second half of the year include SBTi science-based reduction targets, IFRS sustainability disclosure, ISO 46001 water resource management, and ISO 14001 environmental management systems. Bureau Director Chang Jui-hui noted that this award recognizes the efforts of the city and its team. As ESG issues evolve, the academy continues to refine its offerings, providing comprehensive professional knowledge from basic carbon accounting to specialized technical courses. In its two and a half years of operation, the academy has held over 230 courses and trained more than 8,500 people. It has also conducted 44 customized classes for organizations like CPC Corporation and ASE Technology. The city is currently promoting a 'one department, one carbon credit project' initiative.
