President Lai: Semiconductors and AI are Pillars of Security; Taiwan and Europe to Build Democratic Supply Chains

President Lai Ching-te attended the European Day dinner hosted by the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT) on the 26th, emphasizing that semiconductors and artificial intelligence are vital pillars for global prosperity and democratic security. President Lai stated that Taiwan's semiconductor ecosystem, combined with Europe's cutting-edge technology, allows both sides to develop together as like-minded partners. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation in emerging industries related to national security, such as drones, aiming to build a secure and reliable democratic supply chain. Europe is Taiwan's largest source of foreign investment, and Taiwanese investment in Europe has grown by 650% over the past decade. President Lai expressed hope for further strengthening economic ties through bilateral investment protection agreements and resolving double taxation issues.
