During a Taipei City Council session on the 26th, Mayor Chiang Wan-an addressed concerns regarding power supply for the Beitou Shilin Technology Park (Beishike). Chiang stated that power demand has been assessed and supply will be secured before the completion of NVIDIA's headquarters. Regarding the temporary substation, Chiang noted that discussions with Taipower are in the final stages, with a meeting scheduled for tomorrow to finalize plans, aiming for completion within 20 months to two years. The city is also exploring underground options for a permanent substation. In light of NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's visit to Taipei for an employee event at the park, Chiang expressed his readiness to discuss Taipei's AI industrial development and supply chain ecosystem. He emphasized the city's commitment to accelerating administrative support and integrating AI into municipal governance. Responding to councilors' questions about AI city planning and budget allocation, Chiang reiterated his goal of making Taipei an 'AI capital' by balancing debt repayment with strategic investments in the AI sector.
