Messi Suffers Injury Before 6th World Cup; Left Hamstring Fatigue

Weeks before the World Cup, Argentine legend Lionel Messi has encountered another injury setback. His club, Inter Miami, announced today that examinations confirmed muscle fatigue in his left hamstring. During a 6-4 victory over the Philadelphia Union on the 24th, the 38-year-old Messi signaled for a substitution in the 73rd minute after taking a free kick. Inter Miami stated that his return to training depends on his clinical and functional recovery. The MLS is currently on break to accommodate the FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. Messi has not officially confirmed his participation, but he is expected to return for his 6th World Cup. Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has included the 8-time Ballon d'Or winner in the 55-man preliminary squad.
