In January, a man surnamed Wen was abandoned on Route 64 by a taxi driver surnamed Lin and subsequently run over. Lin was indicted for fatal abandonment. In court, Lin denied the charge, admitting only to negligent homicide. Prosecutors amended the indictment to state that Lin 'dragged' Wen out of the car. According to the indictment, Lin picked up Wen via Bolt on January 25 and forced him out on the highway. Wen was later struck by four vehicles. The presiding judge rejected a request for a closed trial, citing the public's right to know. The victim's family is pushing for a murder charge.
