Kinpo Enters Multi-Orbit Satellite Ground Systems, Joins US Gaming Console Supply Chain

Central News Agency reporter Wu Chia-hao, Taipei, May 25. Electronic manufacturing services (EMS) provider Kinpo Electronics held its annual shareholders' meeting today. General Manager Chen Wei-chang stated that Kinpo is leveraging its experience in network communications and ground stations to develop multi-orbit satellite ground systems capable of handling high, medium, and low orbits. Beyond the Taiwan market, the company views Southeast Asia as another key market. He revealed that Kinpo is manufacturing gaming consoles for a US startup, taking responsibility for design and production from scratch, marking a significant milestone in the company's transformation. This project was secured due to Kinpo's accumulated technical capabilities, including communication modules. When asked about potential cooperation with NVIDIA following CEO Jensen Huang's visit to Taiwan, Chen admitted that 'AI servers are a must-do,' noting that NVIDIA values the Taiwan supply chain. Regarding server operations, Kinpo is moving from motherboard and 4U server production to rack systems, with production scheduled to begin in Thailand in the second half of this year. Regarding production capacity, the company is planning new products for its Thailand Plant 13, Plants 14 and 15 are operational, and Plant 16 aims for full capacity this quarter. The Philippines plant has begun introducing industrial design products for other clients. The San Diego plant is at full capacity, and a new site has been secured for expansion. Operations in Mexico, Brazil, and China are maintained, with production adjusted based on product characteristics. Regarding rising component costs, Chen noted that under the current business model, material price increases are absorbed by customers, resulting in minimal impact on Kinpo's profits. Regarding quantum computing, Kinpo will continue to monitor other possibilities while maintaining its investment in SEEQC.
