US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that an agreement to end the war with Iran could potentially take shape today. He also reiterated that Israel has the right to defend itself when attacked. According to AFP, Rubio said in New Delhi, the capital of India, regarding the potential agreement: "We thought there might be some news last night or today, but there is no need to over-interpret it." He added, "We currently have a plan that I believe is quite robust regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the restoration of navigation." Rubio also said he believes Iran will "engage in a very real, meaningful, and time-bound negotiation on the nuclear issue." Speaking about President Trump, Rubio said: "He is not in a hurry to reach an agreement, nor will he make a bad deal; the President will not sign a bad agreement." As he left New Delhi, Rubio mentioned: "Israel always has the right to protect itself... if the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah fires missiles or launches attacks, Israel has every right to respond."
