Taiwan's Anti-Corruption Chief Promotes 'Clean Governance' and AI Integration

Hsieh Ming-kuan, Director-General of the Agency Against Corruption under the Ministry of Justice, stated in an interview that the agency is shifting its focus from traditional 'anti-corruption enforcement' to 'clean governance.' Hsieh aims to enhance public trust in the government by strengthening risk prevention and cross-departmental cooperation alongside corruption investigations. Hsieh, a former prosecutor who was involved in the agency's founding, plans to introduce AI and data analysis to build risk models for procurement cases, enabling early detection of irregularities. He also emphasized the importance of transparency through the 'Anti-Corruption Review Board,' which includes external members, to ensure the public can see and feel the integrity of the government. Taiwan's ranking in the 'Corruption Perceptions Index' has improved in recent years, and the agency aims to continue this progress.
