Tainan mangoes enter peak harvest season; new brand launched to expand domestic and international sales

Central News Agency (Tainan, 24th) Tainan mangoes are about to enter their peak harvest season. Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che visited Dayashimaya in Taipei today to market premium Tainan mangoes. He stated that the city government is actively expanding export markets while also promoting sales through domestic department stores and convenience stores to make it more convenient for consumers. The Tainan City Government held a press conference titled 'Tasting the Mango Fragrance of the South—Tainan Champagne Mango Launch & Irwin Mango Export to Japan,' and launched a pre-order event for high-quality Tainan mangoes in the store's supermarket. Mayor Huang personally recommended the premium mangoes to northern consumers, hoping to share the internationally renowned sweet taste of Tainan. Huang noted that Tainan is a vital mango production area in Taiwan, accounting for nearly 50% of the island's planting area and production. Irwin mangoes, in particular, are loved at home and abroad for their rich aroma, delicate texture, and high sweetness. He introduced the new 'Champagne Mango' brand, inspired by French champagne regions, grown in the chalky soil of Tainan's Yujing district. By using a 'one fruit per cluster' cultivation method and insisting on 'tree-ripened, naturally detached' harvesting, each fruit exhibits a delicate, sweet, and layered flavor. Huang added that the city is diversifying markets, including Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, to stabilize production and sales.
