7-Year-Old Girl from Hsinchu Adopted by American Couple; Foster Family Bids Tearful Farewell

Central News Agency (Hsinchu County, May 23) A 7-year-old girl from Hsinchu County, nicknamed 'Xiao Meng,' who had been under the guardianship of the county government and placed in a foster home for seven years due to her parents' inability to raise her, has been successfully adopted by an American couple following public-private collaboration. Her foster family bid her a tearful farewell, wishing her well as she embarks on a new life in the United States. The Hsinchu County Government stated in a press release today that when Xiao Meng was born, her biological mother suffered from severe mental illness and her biological father was incarcerated, making it impossible to provide a stable upbringing. The county government immediately took her into protective custody in accordance with the law. The county noted that after her biological mother passed away and her elderly father was released from prison, he remained unable to provide stable housing or financial support. To protect the child's rights, the county government obtained guardianship and actively worked with adoption agencies to find a permanent home for her. Xiao Meng had been cared for by her foster mother, Mrs. Chen, since infancy. Mrs. Chen said that although she had been mentally preparing for a long time, it was still very difficult when the time came to say goodbye. She believes that adoption is for the child's better future and hopes Xiao Meng will carry all the love she received and bravely walk into her new life.
