Taipei Puppet Theater Performs in Czech Republic, Blending Taipei 101 and Bubble Tea to Showcase Taiwan's Charm

The Taipei Puppet Theater performed 'Formosa' in Prague on the 20th, using traditional Taiwanese puppetry as a foundation while incorporating creative elements like bubble tea and a scene where 'Taipei 101 suppresses an evil dragon' to deepen the impression of Taiwan among overseas audiences. The performance attracted over 120 attendees, including Czech Senator David Smoljak and Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung. Lin noted that while Taiwanese puppetry and Czech puppet theater originate from different backgrounds, both share core values of loyalty and kindness. Lead performer Wu Sheng-chieh expressed his joy in bringing this work to the Czech Republic, hoping to share the charm of traditional Taiwanese puppetry and folk culture. The plot features Mazu, the sea goddess, defeating an evil dragon to save the people, while incorporating familiar cultural elements like temple fairs. Czech audience member Daniel praised the performance, calling it a wonderful opportunity to experience traditional culture.
