KMT Launches Nomination Process for 9 Township Mayors in Changhua; 2 Incumbents Recruited

The Kuomintang (KMT) Changhua County Committee launched the first round of nomination registration for township and city mayoral elections today, covering nine districts including Changhua City and Yuanlin City. Incumbent Hemei Township Mayor Lin Geng-ren and Shetou Township Mayor Xiao Jun-er have been directly recruited by the nomination committee.

The Changhua County Committee stated that the first round includes Changhua City, Yuanlin City, Xihu Township, Erlin Township, Fuxing Township, Huatan Township, Xiushui Township, Yongjing Township, and Xianxi Township, with notices posted at all 26 township and city party offices.

According to the committee's plan, application forms will be distributed on May 25-26, with registration on May 27-28. Candidates will be selected through coordination, public opinion polls, or party member voting, with the process expected to be completed and announced by June 27.

Additionally, Fangyuan Township Mayor Lin Bao-ling, who was elected under the KMT banner, told CNA that her supporters span different parties and her service is non-partisan. She will run as an independent in the next election to continue raising the profile of Fangyuan.
