Taiwanese Mango Pineapple Enters New Zealand; Trade Representative Calls it a New Highlight

As high-quality Taiwanese fruits continue to expand in the New Zealand market, the unique new variety "Mango Pineapple" (Tainung No. 23) officially launched in New Zealand this year. The Taiwanese community in New Zealand held a promotional dinner in Auckland on the 20th, attracting political, business, and culinary figures to taste the tropical charm of Taiwan, the "Fruit Kingdom." The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Auckland stated that the event featured pineapple-themed dishes, allowing attendees to experience the golden flesh, delicate fibers, and unique aroma of the fruit. Representative Chen Yung-shao stated that Taiwan is known as the "Fruit Kingdom," relying not only on natural climate conditions but also on high-level agricultural technology and breeding capabilities. The Mango Pineapple launched in New Zealand was developed over many years by Taiwan's Agricultural Technology Research Institute and testing units. It is characterized by high sweetness, mild acidity, and a hint of mango aroma, making it a new star in Taiwan's fruit exports. Chen noted that New Zealand officially opened imports for Taiwanese pineapples in 2024, starting with the classic "Golden Diamond" pineapple last year, and now the more unique "Mango Pineapple," showing growing acceptance of high-quality Taiwanese fruit. Taiwan is currently New Zealand's 7th largest trading partner, and trade has flourished since the ANZTEC agreement was signed 13 years ago.
