17th Cross-Strait Film Festival Opens June 22; Actors Dong Zijian and Zhang Songwen to Visit Taiwan

The 17th Cross-Strait Film Festival will open on June 22. The Chinese film lineup announced today includes 'The Day After,' starring Xin Zhilei, who won Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival; 'My Friend Andre,' the directorial debut of Dong Zijian; and 'You Can Do It!', the new film by director Jiang Wen. Additionally, the lineup features 'The Lychee of Chang'an,' adapted from the work of author Ma Boyong, which grossed over 600 million RMB (approximately NT$3.2 billion) in China; 'Life of a Wanderer' and 'The Stage,' starring Huang Bo; 'East Pole Island,' starring Zhu Yilong and Wu Lei; and the urban romantic comedy 'Table for Two,' starring Jiang Shuying and Wang Chuanjun. Film professionals scheduled to visit Taiwan include director Cai Shangjun and actor Zhang Songwen of 'The Day After'; Dong Zijian and actress Yin Tao of 'My Friend Andre'; actors Bai Ke and Wang Xun of 'The Lychee of Chang'an'; director Guan Hu and producer Liang Jing of 'East Pole Island'; producer Li Qian and actor Lu Yi of 'You Can Do It!'; director Ma Lin and screenwriter Zhou Yunhai of 'Life of a Wanderer'; actors Yu Shaoqun and Chen Dayu of 'The Stage'; and director/screenwriter Wu Jing and producer Chen Jie of 'Table for Two.' The Cross-Strait Film Festival will be held from June 22 to 27 at the Showtimes Cinema in the Taipei Dome, with tickets going on sale on June 8.
