The TAIEX opened at 40263.18 points, with an intraday high of 41606.91 and a low of 40263.18. The index excluding financial stocks was 37516.23, up 1313.16 points. Gains and losses for the eight major sectors were: Cement/Ceramics up 1.10%, Food up 0.11%, Plastics/Chemicals up 3.19%, Textiles up 1.78%, Electrical/Machinery up 3.85%, Paper up 1.80%, Construction up 0.90%, and Financials were flat. Buy orders totaled 23,937,352 shares, while sell orders were 15,808,757 shares, with 12,533,952 shares traded. At closing, 862 stocks advanced, 159 declined, and 80 were unchanged.
