Four Chinese coast guard ships intruded into Kinmen's waters today, prompting Taiwan's Coast Guard patrol boats to conduct parallel monitoring, collect evidence throughout the process, and demand that they immediately turn around and leave. The Coast Guard Administration (CGA) stated that it solemnly condemns this type of harassment by the Chinese side, asserting that the act has severely undermined regional peace and positive cross-strait interaction. In a press release today, the Ocean Affairs Council's Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch stated that following yesterday's presidential inauguration 2nd anniversary speech, which communicated to the world the determination to safeguard democracy, freedom, and maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, the CGA today responded forcefully to the Chinese coast guard's gray-zone harassment, demonstrating its will to defend maritime security and national sovereignty through concrete actions. The Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch pointed out that its 12th Patrol District discovered four Chinese coast guard vessels—"14605", "14531", "14606", and "14530"—approaching Kinmen's restricted waters around 2 PM today. It immediately dispatched prepositioned patrol boats to the restricted water line to respond. The branch stated that at 3 PM, the Chinese coast guard vessels intruded into Kinmen's restricted waters simultaneously in two separate groups from the south of Lieyu and the southeast of Liaoluo. CGA boats immediately adopted one-on-one parallel monitoring, collected evidence, and broadcasted in both Chinese and English demanding their immediate departure. The Chinese coast guard vessels eventually all turned and exited Kinmen's restricted waters at 5:01 PM. The CGA stated that it solemnly condemns this type of harassment by the Chinese side, which severely undermines regional peace and positive cross-strait interaction. It will firmly implement the core concept of "achieving true peace through strength," continue to strengthen its patrol capabilities, and show its determination to protect sovereignty and maritime security through concrete actions.
