(CNA, Taipei, May 20, by reporter Pan Chi-yi) Tong-Da Optical Electronics Technology stated at its shareholders' meeting today that it has been continuously focusing on high-speed optical communication and AI data center applications in recent years, while deepening its position in high-end optical coating technology. Currently, its related products are used in 400G and 800G high-speed optical modules, as well as in Passive Optical Networks (PON) and data center high-speed transmission architecture.
Tong-Da Optical's 2025 consolidated revenue is projected to be NT$173 million, a 27.54% increase from 2024; the net loss attributable to the parent company was NT$61.31 million, with a loss per share of NT$1.77. Tong-Da Optical pointed out that demand for optical communication is gradually recovering in 2025, and the company already returned to profitability in the fourth quarter of last year, aiming to reach breakeven this year.
Tong-Da Optical stated that with the increasing demand for AI data centers, High-Performance Computing (HPC), and cloud architecture upgrades, the market's need for high-speed optical modules and high-bandwidth transmission is rising in tandem. The company will continue to invest in the development of 800G and 1.6T related filter products and high-end optical components to strengthen its market position and product competitiveness in high-speed optical communication.
In addition to its existing optical coating products, Tong-Da Optical noted that this year, by participating in the capital increase of Weliff-Tech, it will further expand into key components for high-speed optical transceiver modules. Based on current industry trends, the rapid expansion of AI data centers, high-speed switches, and cloud transmission is driving the demand for active components, optoelectronic semiconductors, and high-speed optical transceiver devices in the high-speed optical communication industry.
Tong-Da Optical explained that while continuing to develop its core optical communication business, it has also been expanding into network communications, semiconductor materials, and high-power lasers through investments and strategic partnerships. Its subsidiary, M-LoRa, continues to invest in industrial-grade network communications and edge AI platform development. Its investment, Leida Optoelectronics, focuses on developing advanced high-energy pulsed laser technology, which complements Tong-Da's high-energy laser coating technology.
Furthermore, the new plant of Tong-Da's sub-subsidiary, Kovas Advanced, located in the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, has completed construction and will subsequently enter the equipment installation and validation phase. It is planned to start sample submission in the fourth quarter of 2026, focusing on the market for high-purity chemical materials for advanced semiconductor packaging. (Editor: Chang Liang-chih)
