(CNA, Taipei, 19th) The Taipei Performing Arts Center (TPAC) has partnered with the Ju Percussion Group to curate the "Ideas in the Bluebox" concert series, inviting Europe-based percussionists Wu Hsin-Hsuan and Hsieh Meng-Fu to present "Simulation Game" and "Elephant in the Room," respectively, in cross-disciplinary performances that aim to overturn conventional viewing experiences.
TPAC Chairperson Wang Wen-Yi stated at a press conference today that the Bluebox theater has unique acoustic properties where all reverberations and every detail are amplified, posing a significant challenge for performers. "We also wish to pay the highest respect to the Ju Percussion Group for their achievements and efforts in Taiwan over the past 40 years, and for the path they have forged for Taiwan's performing arts."

Percussionist Hsieh Meng-Fu's work, "Elephant in the Room," is developed from Chinese author Lu Xun's 1918 short story "A Madman's Diary." Its development began in 2022, and this is a newly revised version. The work integrates elements of physical movement, video, and electronic music. On stage, Hsieh struck a drum with his hands, each sound heavy and solid. "I play the madman in the story, and the audience are actually the neighbors, entering the story with me."
Ju Tzong-Ching stated that when planning the works for "Ideas in the Bluebox," "My principle is not just to support already mature works, but more so to hope that young creators with potential for development have the chance to stand on a larger stage." Ju said that these two percussionists don't just deal with sou
