Google's Personal AI Agent 'Spark' Can Analyze Bills, Write Work Logs

This application runs on Google's cloud servers, so tasks can continue to execute even if the user turns off their laptop or phone.

According to Josh Woodward, Vice President of Google Labs, Gemini, and AI Studio, early testers have already used Gemini Spark for a variety of tasks. For example, if an employee needs to send a work progress update to their manager, Spark can gather relevant information from emails, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations to help draft the update.

Some small business owners have even used it to monitor their inbox to ensure no potential customer inquiries are missed.

For personal use, Gemini Spark can automatically analyze monthly credit card statements to identify new or easily overlooked subscription fees. It can also organize various notifications from a child's school in a Gmail inbox into a clear summary.

Google emphasizes that the AI agent operates according to the user's instructions. Users can decide whether to enable it and which applications to connect it to. In terms of security, it will ask for consent before performing high-risk actions, such as making a payment.

Google is accelerating its layout for the agentic AI era, continuously upgrading everything from AI chips and cloud platforms to Gemini products. Last month, Google unveiled its next-generation TPU chip (Tensor Processing Unit), and today at the I/O developer conference, it released the Gemini 3.5 model family and demonstrated how Gemini is evolving from a chat-based AI assistant to an agentic AI application.

Google stated that Gemini Spark will first be available to trusted testers and plans to open a Beta version to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. next week.

In addition to Spark, Google also introduced "Information Agents" in Search.

This agent will search for various types of information on the web, including blogs, news websites, social media posts, as well as real-time information on finance, shopping, and sports. This feature will be rolled out to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers starting this summer.
